The #EndSARS campaign has dominated the news cycle in recent days mostly because more and more people are coming forward with their stories of nasty experiences with the Anti-Robbery Squad.
Another Nigerian man has come forward with his own tale, narrating a chilling story of how SARS operatives found an #EndSARS message on his phone and how he entered trouble for it.
According to a Twitter user, @ogeezle, he was stopped by SARS operatives who then asked to check his things. Things got dicey when his Whatsapp where he’d apparently sent messages involving the #EndSARS movement, were found.
He was allegedly shouted at and harassed and was forced to an ATM and nearly extorted. He reportedly made it out simply because he didn’t carry the ATM card with money on it.
He was then let go and left wondering what would have happened if it was at night.
While many are calling for the organization to be scrapped, many are also of the opinion that they need to stay, they only need to be restructured so as to carry out their jobs more effectively without harming Nigerians.
