The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister to the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has admitted on national television at a live Senate hearing that she does not have access or any specific information relating to a JP Morgan account where the country’s crude oil revenues are lodged.
Senator Magnus Abe, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) posed a question to the minister on the existence of the account, to which she responded, “I am not privy to the account.” She also stated that she did not possess the account number or any involvement with the operation of the account.
