Nigerian singer Hotkid has shared a heartfelt revelation about his colleague, Asake, shedding light on the challenging period Asake faced before securing a record deal with Olamide’s YBNL Nation. Hotkid disclosed this during his appearance as a guest on Hip TV’s Trending, hosted by KimOprah.
According to Hotkid, in early 2020, Asake was experiencing homelessness, shuffling between people’s apartments. As both artists share the same birthday, Asake had found temporary accommodation in Hotkid’s room during this challenging time. It was during one of these nights that Asake opened up about feeling depressed.
Hotkid recounted the moment, stating, “Asake was in my room one night and was like, how long does he wanna do this. I was cheering him up. I didn’t know that my own depression was coming.”
The ‘Mr Money’ crooner highlighted the importance of empathy and understanding, emphasizing that judgment should be withheld, as individuals often face unseen struggles. Hotkid urged people not to be quick to pass judgment, emphasizing the unpredictability of life’s challenges.
