The President, Muhammadu Buhari has stated that the Nigerian Army did not issue him his entitlements after his service years with the force.
This was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday by presidential spokesman, Mr. Garba Shehu.
Buhari also noted that he has not been receiving military pensions and salaries as required of former head of state since his assumption of office in May, 2015.
In the statement issued, Garba Shehu said: “The President has never received pension from the army or car as had gone to former Commanders-in-Chief.
“Buhari stopped collecting allowances paid to former Heads of State the moment he took office as elected President last year.
“Since his overthrow as military ruler, the army never instituted a pension for him. The army is known to supply cars to former heads of the army. President Buhari never got any of that”.
The revelation came to the fore following the circulation of a narrative which claims the President has been receiving double payments from the federal government.
The Presidential spokesman further revealed that the Buhari did not benefit from the entitlements such as vehicle supplies which was usually issued to former Nigerian leaders.
Mr Garba Shehu, boasting of the credibility of the information asked for it to be verified at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
He added: “Before this time, the presidency did not supply cars to him as they did the former Heads of State.
“This is verifiable from the SGF’s office”.
