Portia Odufuwa, the 37-year-old Nigerian-American woman arrested over Monday’s airport shooting in Dallas, Texas, was once charged with bank robbery.
Police said Odufuwa opened fire at the Dallas Love Field Airport after she was dropped off at the airport and entered the terminal.
“Odufuwa went inside a women’s restroom and a short time later comes out into the ticket counter area and fires a weapon several times,” a police statement said.
A nearby police officer shot the suspect and she was taken to hospital, according to multiple reports.
No other person was injured in the incident, police said.
Fort-Worth Star-Telegram reported that Odufuwa was charged to court after an encounter with a bank teller in Collin County, Texas in 2019.
Police said that the suspect entered a Bank of America in Wylie, Texas on April 5, 2019, and passed a note to the teller demanding money.
Police further said that they found Odufuwa in an adjacent area where she made an attempt to run but was caught after a short pursuit.
She was taken into custody and charged before a judge.
However, the judge dismissed the charge on May 31, 2019.
