Nigerian Air Force combats ISWAP terrorists with air strikes in Borno

2 Min Read

Nigerian Air Force team attached to the Operation Lafiya Dole launched an air strike which reportedly caused permanent damage to a vehicle belonging to the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.

The attack was also said to have destroyed some logistics reinforcements which were being conveyed around Tumbun Sale and Tumbun Allura, the outskirts of Borno State.

In a statement released by Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the head of public relations and information of the Nigerian Air Force, the air strike was launched after the force got intel that ISWAP terrorists were in the area, transporting some extra provisions by using the dense vegetation in the area as camouflage.

As a result, Air Force authorities quickly sent in a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet, enlisting the support of an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) team to jointly lay a siege on the ISWAP hideout. After repeatedly firing at the terrorists, the troops were able to destroy some settlements in the region, destroying one of their vehicles in the process.

The Air Force further restated its determination in ensuring that all terrorists and their hideouts are destroyed in the country.
