World football governing body FIFA recently released it’s latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings. African champions Nigeria fell four spots to 37th in the world and 6th in Africa behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia,Ghana and Senegal.
Elite football analysts attributed Nigeria’s fall in the ranking to their poor performance at the start of AFCON 2015 qualifiers. The Super Eagles of Nigeria had a shocking 3 – 2 defeat to Congo and went on to South Africa to escape with a goalless draw.
Algeria went four spots up to the 20th in the world and 1st in Africa, they have continued their magnificent run with two wins in the AFCON 2015 qualifiers; the 2nd spot in Africa was held by Cote D’Ivore, 22nd in the World. Tunisia and Ghana are 3rd and 4th in Africa respectively.
Black stars of Ghana gained 3 places to clinch the 33rd spot in the World, two places ahead of Tunisia; Tunisia moved up 11 places to 31st
in the World.

World cup winners Germany retained their position as the number one in the Global ranking. Argentina are in second place and Columbia in third. Brazil went up by 1 spot and are now 6th on the list ahead of Uruguay who dropped from 6th to 7th.
