Nigeria safer now than 5 years ago – Buratai

Buratai

Nigerians have a lot to be thankful for as security has become better than it was five years ago, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has said.

He stated this Sunday at a sit-out with soldiers Wounded In Action (WIA) being treated at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

Buratai said that Nigerians were grateful for the sacrifice made by the soldiers as the nation has become safer.

“I am proud you have made the impact that some of our colleagues and Nigerians are safe and I am equally happy that we are living in peace and Nigeria is safer now than we had five years ago,” the Army chief said.

Hailing their sense of patriotism, professionalism and sacrifice, he noted that their sacrifices would not go without being rewarded.

Buratai said that the wounded soldiers would get adequate medical care and get trained on entrepreneurial skills to sustain them after recuperation.

He said, “We will continue to send our officers to see how we can get you rehabilitated through skills acquisition programme so that when you recuperate, you can go back to the field.

“We must develop these facilities here. Those equipment we don’t have we will get, so you don’t need to get surgery elsewhere. This is one of the hospitals we have upgraded.”
