The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Fatai Owoseni, has said that the force would dismiss a police sergeant who killed himself and three others, including two twin brothers, in Ketu area of Lagos on Saturday.
The police sergeant, Stephen James, reportedly shot the twin brothers – Taiwo and Kehinde Oyesunle, the only children of their mother – as well as their friend identified as Jeje for advising him to behave properly at a relaxation spot.
While condemning the deceased policeman’s actions and commiserating with the family of the deceased victims, Owoseni said James would be tried and dismissed from the force posthumously.
Describing the dead policeman’s actions as “irrational”, the commissioner said he would be dismissed because he had brought the force into disrepute.
He said: “We would try him even in death and dismiss him for his actions. We want to use this medium to sympathize with the families of the deceased and we apologize for the irrational actions of the policeman who also took his life.”
