Presidential candidate of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) in the 2019 general election, Fela Durotoye has joined the call for the release of Omoyele Sowore, a fellow presidential candidate that was arrested for calling for nationwide protests against the Federal Government.
The protest tagged ‘#RevolutionNow Days of Rage’ was scheduled for Monday, August 5.
However, the presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) was arrested in Lagos on Saturday and whisked away to Abuja by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
But taking to his Twitter handle on Sunday, Durotoye joined calls for Sowore’s release.
Durotoye wrote, “Nigeria is in dire need of a new beginning. Every Nigerian has a constitutional right to Freedom of Speech & peaceful protest.
“My brother Omoyele Sowore has only learnt his voice to our collective frustration as a people. The voices of the people must be heard.
“What affects one of us will eventually affect all of us. We must all stand together to demand the immediate release of Omoyele Sowore now.”
