Following the current economic conditions in the nation, a UK media house has reported that Nigeria is on the brink of famine.
The said famine according to the United Nation was described as “a famine unlike any we have ever seen anywhere”.
The United Nations in its statistics posited that nearly a quarter of a million children in the North-Eastern part of the country are severely malnourished.
Speaking on the situation in the country, the UN’s Assistant Secretary-General Toby Lanzer noted that millions of Nigerians are starving in refugee camps that are too dangerous for aid agencies to reach.
Mr Lanzer further added that if adequte help is not provided for Nigeria quick, “we will see, I think, a famine unlike any we have ever seen anywhere”.
He further added: “We can’t assess their situation – we can estimate that it’s awful”.
