Senator Shehu Sani, known for his head on approach to matters has given his opinion on the Nigerian team’s performance at the 2016 Olympics competition.
The Senator took to his social media page on Facebook to write:
“We must be humble enough to tell ourselves the truth; As a nation and as a government, we have failed our athletes in Rio. To hide behind a bronze is to hide behind a finger.
“Our athletes and Nigerians deserve an unreserved apology and a strong assurance and commitment to do the right thing at the right time in the future.
“Where there is no shame and no remorse, there’s no honour. Our National flag didn’t fly in Rio, it soaked and sagged.
“We have just successfully hosted African Central Bankers in Abuja, we have no reason not to fund our athletes to perform better.”
