The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has cancelled all football activities in the country to checkmate the spread of Coronavirus.

The directive was given by the NFF president Amaju Pinnick who stated that the shutdown of all football activities in the country will last for 28 days.

The shutdown will affect all on field activities including all the national teams, the Nigeria Professional Football League, the other leagues, youth football programmes and street football.

Pinnick stated that;

“The cessation will be for four weeks after which the situation will be revised in line with trends and events worldwide”.

He therefore advised all members of the Nigerian football family to observe safety precautions as advised by the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Pinnick stated further that the only football related activity that will take place during the period is the NFF investigation into the death of Chineme Martins, the Nasarawa United player who died in action last week.
