Arsene Wenger has handed a trial to Nigeria international defender Godfrey Oboabona.
Oboabona has been offered an opportunity to impress during a trial spell at Premier League heavyweights Arsenal.
The 22-year-old caught the eye at the Africa Cup of Nations in January, bringing him to the attention of clubs across Europe.
He played a starring role for Nigeria as they tasted continental glory and it is expected that Oboabona will soon be on the move.
The highly-rated centre-back is currently turning out for the Sunshine Stars, but has jumped at the chance to try and win himself a move to England.
He said: “Arsenal are my favourite club from childhood. It is the club I want to play for.”
While the Gunners would be Oboabona’s preferred destination, he admits he will have a number of options to consider in the summer regardless of how things turn out for him at the Emirates.
He told MTNFootball.com: “I already have offers from the top five leagues in the world. But like you know the transfer window had closed by the time the Nations Cup ended.
“If I want to make any move now then it would be to an African country, and I don’t want such a move when I have offers from Europe.
“So, I would rather wait until the summer and make the right choice instead of rushing into any move.”
