The Army Headquarters has organised a workshop to sensitise Commanders, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, on the concept of “Super Camp” in Damboa, Borno state.

A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, on Thursday, said the workshop took place at Headquarters 25 Task Force Brigade (Super Camp 2) in Damboa.

Musa said the workshop was organised by the Department of Training and Operations (DATOPS), Army Headquarters.

He said that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, was represented by the Chief of Training and Operations, Maj.-Gen. Enobong Udoh.

Buratai was quoted as saying that the concept of the Super Camp was a force multiplier that allows for concentration of manpower and resources.

COAS further commended the participants for their sacrifices to the country and for being good ambassadors of the Nigerian Army.

Earlier, the Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Maj.-Gen. Benson Akinroluyo, appreciated the COAS for the new Super Camp concept.

He said that the super camp concept would serve as launching pad for mobile offensive operations in containing and denying the Boko Haram terrorists and criminals freedom of action in identified areas across the theatre.

Akinroluyo added that the super camps would further boost force protection of troops while on camps, as well as enable them to project force through long distance patrols and ambushes to dominate their areas of operation.

According to the Army Spokesperson, the workshop was quite interactive and the participants were also conducted on a guided tour of super camp Damboa, which later dovetailed into professional group discussion.

“Participants were drawn from Headquarters Theatre Command, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, as well as Sectors 1, 2 and 3.

“Present during the workshop include the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and also Commander Sector 1, Maj.-Gen. A.B Biu, Commander Sector 2, Brig.-Gen. I.S Ali, Component Commanders, Theatre Training Officer, Brigade Commanders and other very senior officers. (NAN)
