Niger Delta Militants Are Relocating – Ogun State CP

2 Min Read

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali yesterday said that some suspected Niger Delta militants are fleeing their home and looking to relocate to the state.

Abdulmajid made the statement yesterday following the Friday attack on Imushin community located in Ogijo area of the state by suspected militants.

Speaking on the invasion and the response of the security forces to ensure that such occurrence seizes, the commissioner of Police warned that such development will not be treated with levity.

Recall that over 100 suspected militants reportedly attacked the community on Friday killing 15 residents and leaving several others injured.

Clearing the air on the number of slain residents, the Police Commissioner said: “It’s not true that 15 people were killed there. The DPO Ogijo was on the ground; he reported that only three people were killed and their bodies had been recovered from the scene.”

Warning against the settling of the militants in the riverine areas of the state, he said: “The militants are finding it difficult in Niger Delta and Ikorodu area of Lagos State. They are now moving to our side in Ogun.

He continued: “They are the ones involved in kidnapping and all sorts of crime. These boys are becoming lawless. It is the same group that killed the NNPC officials, DSS and Navy officers in Arepo. They are responsible for a lot of criminal activities in the area. Honestly, they should be treated like Boko Haram.”
