Following the increased militant attacks in the Niger Delta area of the country and the recent threat to launch six missiles, the fist of which the Niger Delta Avengers militant group promised to launch today, the Federal Government has retracted steps in its decision to increase military presence in the area.
Recall that the Niger Delta Avengers militant group included Aso Rock in their list of scheduled bomb sites.
The Federal Government yesterday revealed it that it is considering the option of withdrawing offensive military operations against the Avengers militant group in order to allow a chance for negotiation.
The move by the Federal Government was disclosed in Abuja by the Petroleum Minister, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu while addressing newsmen.
The Petroleum minister however called on the militant group to lay down their weapons and embrace dialogue with the Federal Government in order to achieve peace and a lasting solution.
