The Niger Delta Avengers who have been responsible for numerous attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta have gained infamy for their acts.
So much so that they’ve been criticised by a group based in Netherlands.
The group, a non-governmental organisation based in The Netherlands, Hope for Niger Delta Campaign (HNDC) has come out to condemn the activities of Niger Delta militants in the region.
According to the Vanguard, the HNDC have also commended Buhari for withdrawing soldiers from the region.
The HNDC urged that in turn the Niger Delta Avengers should also drop their arms and use the period to hold meaningful discussions with the Federal government pointing out that their continued attacks not only brought harm to the oil production but also to the health of people in the region.
Therefore if the Niger Delta Avengers really care about their people they would dialogue.
In a statement, the HNDC said,”The environment has faced despoliation from crude oil extraction. The main occupations of the people which is farming and fishing have been gravely affected by oil spills and pollution from gas flaring.
“Any meaningful agitation should be targeted at addressing these situations and calling on the government and oil multinational companies to meet these needs and remediate the environment of the people. This must be done in an organised manner with all stakeholders.”
