Sub-Sahara Peace and Awareness Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) says it will partner civil society organisations to avert further protest by youths in the country.

Mr Akibu Dalhatu, the Chairman of the NGO, disclosed this at a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said that the foundation was not unaware of the genuine intention of the protest, adding that it was aimed at calling on the government to disband the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigerian Police Force.

Dalhatu stated that the aim of the partnership was to discuss the post #EndSARS protest and proffer solutions to avert future occurrences.

He said that the meeting would also discuss the issue of sensitisation of youth organisation on the need for ideologically based protest, aimed at advocating for an egalitarian society.

He added that it would also meet community leaders, traditional rulers and youth group in communities to synergise for harmonious peaceful-coexistence.

Dalhatu said that it would involve public and private bodies on the importance of their corporate social responsibilities aimed at assisting the large unemployed youth’s populace.

He also commended the Nigerian Police Force for putting the interest of the nation and its citizens first in ensuring that its officers were more civil and professional.

“We also recognise the success in tackling violent crimes across the nation and ensuring peace reigns in our land.’’.
