The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may have soft-pedalled on a decision to banish goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and strip him of the captaincy of the Super Eagles over his controversial comments regarding the safety of Kaduna for an AFCON qualifier.
The NFF decision may not be unconnected with the furore that greeted the saga which included the Lille goalkeeper tearing a query given to him to defend himself over his comments in the media that Kaduna was not safe to stage the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Chad last month.
“Enyeama will now pay a fine and this will be treated internally,” a top official informed AfricanFootball.com.
Enyeama is the most capped Nigeria international after he made his 101st appearance for the Super Eagles ironically against Les Sao of Chad in Kaduna.
Lazio midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has already been fined for his dismissal from the same match.
