Neymar is set to become the third highest-earning player in world football as Barcelona have lined up a new contract that will see him earn around €15 million, Spanish football paper MARCA reported.
The new contract is expected to get him closer to the undisputed highest earners Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Also, MARCA reported that the club was looking to up Neymar’s buy-out clause from €180 million to around €1 billion, but his agent insisted it must not exceed the €250 million mark.
Neymar already has 12 goals, 4 assists and 50 shots in 11 La Liga games this season, and the Barcelona authorities are apparently trying to scare away any other club interested in the Brazilian’s services.
He is the highest goal scorer in the current La Liga season.
The new contract when signed is expected to keep him at the club till June 2021.
