New Postmaster-General promises to make NIPOST competitive

3 Min Read

Mr Bisi Adegbuyi, new Postmaster-General, Nigerian Postal Service, says his vision is to have a NIPOST that will be competitive and deliver on its core responsibilities.

Adegbuyi made the promise at an interactive with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.

He promised to introduce a new orientation that would make the agency deliver on its mandate.

“I represent the change agenda, a new orientation, new thinking, re-invention and repositioning. My vision is to have a NIPOST that will be competitive and deliver on its core responsibilities.

“We cannot afford to have a moribund organization, the whole world has become a global village, whatever we do or say here within a twinkle of an eye will resonate all over the world.

“I come from the private sector, my training is to look at issues from the business point of view, the challenges confronting an organization and think out of the box for solutions.

He promised to turn NIPOST into a viable and profit making organisation.

Adegbuyi promised to look at the laws setting up NIPOST with a view to changing sections that would hinder it from achieving its objectives.

“As long we play by the rules and for as long as we look at the laws, the problems will be solved.’’

“I know that postal organisations all over the world are supposed to be viable and profit making.’’

He said that if there were rules inhibiting the operations of NIPOST, to be run in a businesslike manner, they will be removed.

He pledged to give priority to welfare staff members to ensure improved productivity.

“I am going to look into staff welfare; it is going to be a symbiotic relationship. To whom much is given, much will be expected.

“If you don’t take care about the people that are working for you, you will not get the best from them.

‘’However, because governance is management of limited resources, we must look at how to maximise what is at our disposal.’’

NAN recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Adegbuyi as Postmaster-General of NIPOST on the Aug. 2, after the retirement of Mr Mori Baba on Aug.19, 2015. (NAN)
