A newly registered political party, Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) says it is targeting 10,000 new members monthly in Kaduna State, as part of strategies to propagate its ideals ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Chairman of the party in the State, Bilal Adamu disclosed this at a Town Hall meeting on Saturday in Kaduna.
Adamu said the party would field candidates in all offices in the 2019 general polls in the State.
“We are going to field candidates in the three Senatorial seats, the 12 House of Representatives seats and the 34 legislative seats in the State come 2019 and I assure you there would be no alliance with any political party,”he said.
He regretted that the party did not participate in the just concluded Local government elections, because it secured registration after the electronic voting machines had been procured.
According him, the party’s logo was not reflected on the machines before the May 12 LG polls in the State.
The Chairman said the party with less than 5,000 members in the State was already making impact in the political space.
“So, we need to embark on massive membership registration drive to be relevant in the political space and take back our country.”
The Chairman said while registration is online and free new members would pay N1000 for their identity card and dues of N5,000 annually.
He said the party members are mostly professional youth and women groups, focussed on addressing unemployment, women empowerment, education, Agriculture, Security, Energy and Health Care challenges in the country.
He urged members to be resilient, “because it would not be easy to finance a new political party in the country.”
Adamu disclosed that the party is participating in the Ekiti State Governorship poll, “which is going to be a first test.”
“We are also embarking on sensitisation and publicity, while the party with 14 member state executive committee, would conduct Congresses on July 7 to elect officials in the 255 wards and 23 local government areas in the State,” he said.
He said the party would adopt the option A4 system in its ward and local government Congresses.
Adamu assured that the party would give every Nigerian equal level playing ground to aspire for any office on its platform.
He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) to enable them participate in the 2019 general polls. (NAN)
