The Parisian fashion brand, Balmain, has unveiled its Spring-Summer 2014 advertising campaign, which features the Barbadian pop star Rihanna.
Styled by regular collaborator Mel Ottenberg, the pop star was photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in New York City in early November 2013.
Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s Creative Director was clearly very excited about the collaboration: “dreams do come true… When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete,” he said.
“Not compromising, fresh, modern, the icon of my generation, Rihanna embodies my vision of Balmain in this new campaign. In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world,” added Rousteing.
Spring-Summer 2014 is shaping up to be a solid season for the pop and fashion world crossovers. Lady Gaga has already appeared in the campaign for her friend Donatella Versace’s latest runway collection. Givenchy picked neo soul singer Erykah Badu for its Mert & Marcus-shot Spring-Summer 2014 photos, while Maison Kitsuné’s latest lookbook features hip Los Angeles chanteuse Sky Ferreira.
