Nestle Nigeria on Friday organised a factory tour with key stakeholders to celebrate 150 years of what the company described as “good nutrition.”
The Country Manager of the company, Mr Mauricio Alarcon, said in Lagos that the tour was an opportunity to discuss how Nestles’ commitment to creating shared values met some of the main societal nutrition and health needs of Nigerians.
Alarcon expressed the desire and readiness of the company to continue to collaborate with relevant government departments and other partners in addressing and identifying baselines to improve nutrition indicators for Nigeria.
He said the company would mark the creation of Farine lactée (Cerelac) which saved the life of an infant as part of the 150 years celebration.
He added that “Nestle has been in Nigeria for more than 50 years. The company invested in three production sites in Agbara, Flowergate and recently in Abaji.
“Nestle supports local sourcing of raw materials and investments in rural communities.
“The company employs more than 2,300 people.”
Dignitaries at the tour included wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun, who represented the wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari.
Others were the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye and the state’s Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Bimbo
