Nestle Nigeria has donated food items and beverages worth about N32 million to support Rivers Government’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The Managing Director of Nestle Nigeria, Mauricio Alarcon, made this known in a statement in Port Harcourt on Monday.
The statement was signed by the company’s Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Victoria Uwadoka.
According to him, the contribution is part of the company’s pledge to donate cash and consumables worth N700 million to states to reduce hunger during the lockdown.
“The donation is in line with Nestle’s commitment to enhance the quality of life as well as contribute to a healthier future.

“Nestle will continue to play its essential role in ensuring the uninterrupted availability of food and beverage products to Nigerians.
“The products are critical for the sustenance and well-being of millions of Nigerian families, who rely on the company to help feed their families every day,” he said.
Alarcon said the items were meant for individuals and families most impacted by the measures put in place by Rivers government to halt the spread of the virus.
The Secretary to State Government (SSG), Dr Tammy Danagogo, received the items on behalf of the state government.
Danagogo thanked Nestle for becoming the first fast-moving consumer goods company to support the state government’s efforts on COVID-19.
“It is highly commendable that without any prompting, Nestle has proved to be very good corporate citizens by reaching out to support us in this very difficult times,” Danagogo said.
