Nestle Nigeria Plc on Monday commissioned its N5.4 billion ultra modern distribution centre in Agbara, Ogun State.
Speaking at the opening of the centre, the Managing Director of Nestle Nigeria, Martin Woolnough, said it was key to the company’s growth in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
He said that the facility would further strengthen Nigeria’s role as the largest manufacturing operation for Nestle in the West and Central Africa Region.
According to him, “the new state -of-the-art distribution centre reflects more than just an important investment to broaden our nutrition, health and wellness business platform; it illustrate also our commitment to the growth of Nigerian economy.”
He added that the centre spread over an area of four hectares, the new 17,000-pallet capacity warehouse facility is designed to manage the capacity increases following massive infrastructural upgrades at Agbara factory in the last five years for volume increase.
He noted that the centre with manufacturing complex is one of the company’s biggest factories in Africa and it had witnessed unprecedented Infrastructural upgrade since 2010 which include N4.5 billion Milo Raw material handling facility; N4.134 billion Cereal Processing line expansion and N3.60 billion Tri- generation plant.
Others are N3.26 billion Integrated Malt Extract plant; N1.80 billion Cereals Milling plant and N1.48 billion Milo 4th Vacuum Band Dryer.
Head of Nestle Central and West Africa region, Etienne Benet said: “Nestle has been operationally present in Nigeria for over five decades, bringing significant value to society at large by souring locally, creating employment, offering high quality, nutritious products and helping in the further development of the region.”
He added that, “By opening our new distribution facility in Ogun State, we will be closer to our consumers and can better adapt our products to their needs preference.”
Present a the inauguration was the Director General and Chief Executive of National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Engr. Umar Bindir.
