The Abia State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a gang of suspected cultists in Aba.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday.

According to the agency, the suspects were arrested with 13 grammes of dried weeds (marijuana), a pistol, rounds of live ammunition, and shirts with the inscription ‘Welcome To Taliban Zone’.

The suspects were said to have been arrested by men of the NDLEA in a hotel room on a tip-off.

The Commander of the Abia State Command of the NDLEA, Mr. Dele Akingbade gave the names of the suspects as: Okonkwo Pascal ,30; Dike Chizoba, 30; Prince Lucky Chukwu, 25; Amadi Amaechi, 24; and  Valentine Obinna, 23.

Others are: Chimezie Kingsley, 24; Nwanakwere Peter, 22; and Emmanuel Kanu, 21.

The statement stated: “The NDLEA will investigate the unlawful possession of drugs and transfer the suspects to the Department of State Service for further investigation. It has not been established if the suspects are linked to any revolutionary group.”

The Chairman of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, lauded the officers of the NDLEA for their dedication to promoting national security.

“This arrest further validates the fact that people take drugs for Dutch courage to perpetrate crimes,” he stated.

Giade equally advocated a better synergy among law enforcement agencies in the country.
