Popular American singer, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, better known as NBA YoungBoy, has been released from federal prison. According to reports, he was released on Monday, March 24, 2025.
NBA YoungBoy, who was initially serving 27 months on federal charges, had entered a no-contest plea for 36 additional charges in 2024. His plea deal led to the reduction of his felony charges to Class A misdemeanors, and he was imposed a $25,000 fine instead.
Jamaican-American podcaster and internet personality, DJ Akademiks, announced the news on X, stating that NBA YoungBoy had been released from federal prison and was either transferred to a halfway house or headed home.
The rapper’s release comes as a surprise, as his original release date was scheduled for April 26, 2025. However, it appears that his lawyers were able to negotiate an earlier release.
NBA YoungBoy’s music career has continued to thrive despite his legal troubles. He recently released a project called “More Leaks,” which features unreleased tracks and fan-favorite snippets.
