National Housing Programme: 76 units ready for inauguration in Katsina–Director

2 Min Read

Mr Joseph Toluhi, the North-West Zonal Director of Housing, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, says 76 housing units in Katsina State, under the National Housing Programme (NHP) are completed and ready for inauguration.

Toluhi spoke on Thursday in Katsina, during an inspection of the NHP  site in the state.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality and level of completion of work on the project, adding that it was the first site in the country to attain 100 per cent completion.

He attributed the timely completion of the project and its quality finishing to the spirit of team work,  that existed between the supervisors and the contractors.

“The supervisors were able to monitor the project in terms of quality, time and other deliverables.

“All the buildings and infrastructure, the road works, drainage, pedestrian works, road surfacing and electrical installations

are practically completed,” he said.

According to him, the transformers, boreholes, water treatment plant and the distribution system as well as security lights are all in place.

Mr Yohanna Saidu, the Team Leader, National Housing Programme in Katrina State, said work on the housing project started in 2017.

He said that the labour and materials used for the project were 100 per cent locally sourced, adding that about 5,000 direct and indirect jobs were created.

The team leader said that the contractors had handed over the 76 housing units. (NAN)
