The lower chamber of the Nigerian parliament has summoned the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi to appear before the House.
The House of Representatives Committee on Land Transport summoned the Minister of Transport, and former Governor of Rivers State to answer several corruption allegations against his person and office.
Chairman of the committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, disclosed this to Channels Television in an exclusive interview after plenary on Thursday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He explained that the Rotimi Amaechi was being summoned to appear before the House committee over allegations of corruption and breach of process.
Mr. Jibrin revealed that the committee has received a lot of allegations from credible sources against the minister and wants to investigate the issues raised.
According to him, the lawmakers after a meeting of the committee believe that Nigerians should know about so much of the things being done behind the scenes.
Rotimi Amaechi had also been accused by the upper chamber earlier in the week of neglect of the South-East as Federal road and rail projects were being undertaken in the country.

The upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly consequently mandated its Committees on Land Transport, Local and Foreign Debts to summon the Transport Minister, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, before the joint committees to explain the alleged marginalization of one of the six geo-political zones in the execution of the nationwide rail projects.
