Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has described Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as a “cheap crook” who should be impeached by the National Assembly.
Fani-Kayode made this known in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Monday afternoon after the House of Representatives indicted him for releasing billions to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) without appropriation.
The House of Representatives Committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness last Thursday indicted Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in its report, accusing him of illegally approving N5.8 billion North East Intervention Fund which the lawmakers said was mismanaged by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The committee said the authorisation for the release of the fund for emergency food intervention in the North East contravened Section 80(4) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The committee said the funds were credited directly to the individual banks of the companies and NEMA’s bank account, in violation of the approval limit allowed by law.
Reacting to the indictment, Fani-Kayode said, “I call on National Assembly to impeach VP Yemi Osinbajo and on the DSS to arrest and prosecute him for misappropiation of public funds, diversion, money laundering, concealment and stealing. Given his illegal approval of 5.8 billion naira to NEMA I have no doubt that he is a cheap crook.”
