The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU, and National Association of Academic Technologist, NAAT have promised that full Activities will soon resume in Nigerian universities as the non-teaching staff have accepted government’s proposal and has entered into an agreement with the federal government.
This statement was made by Samson Ugwoke, the National President of the Joint Action Committee of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, Non Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU, and National Association of Academic Technologist, NAAT after the second open negotiation meeting with representatives of government which ended 12:30 a.m. on Thursday morning
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said both parties had come to the end of deliberation on the matter. According to him, JAC has agreed to consult all its organs with a view to calling off the strike as soon as possible.
“The three page agreement was signed and endorsed by all of us,” Mr. Ugwoke said.
“We are taking our document and we will make our pronouncement soon,” he concluded.
Recall that the meeting between the Federal Government Negotiation Team and striking non teaching staff in the universities was inconclusive last week but with some agreements reached between the two parties.
Thank Goodness, I just hope the call it off as quick as possible
