The Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has urged the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to project and publicise its achievements.

Onanuga, in a congratulatory message to the new Comptroller-General of NIS, Alhaji Muhammed Babandede, said this would be part of efforts to boost Nigeria’s image under the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“You should publicise NIS activities and achievements to create and promote a positive image for Nigeria,’’ the NAN Chief Executive Officer said.

He noted that Babandede’s appointment was a confirmation of his experience, competence and capabilities.

Onanuga also urged Babandede to “use NIS to further assist Federal Government’s efforts against insurgency and corruption’’.

“The role of the Nigeria Immigration Service has become more crucial in the face of security challenges, even as the country has been gradually surmounting these challenges.’’

The NAN MD pointed out that “as the biggest news organisation in Nigeria, NAN has projected the activities of NIS for decades and is now ready to fully partner with the Immigration Service to enhance its image.

“This will be done through NAN’s multimedia news outlets, including NANMobile SMS news and NAN PR-Wire services,’’ he said.

NAN reports that Babandede recently replaced Martin Abeshi as the NIS C-G
