Naked Women Protest Against Government Over Demolition

A mob of Igbokoda market women were seen naked, protesting against the government of ondo state over the move to demolish illegal buildings at the Igbokoda Inyernational Market.

The protest which lasted hours caused traffic congestion on major roads as a result of the barricades that were placed on the roads according to the Nation report.

Illegallly erected structures werw marked for demolition by the Government, however the women protested the manner in which it intended to carry out the action.

According to them, the government officials did not give due notice to them to prepare them towards the demolition.

In response to the protest, Mr Sunday Lebi, who is the  Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Agency for Commerce, Industries and Cooperative Services, siscloaed that government would not condone rebellious actions against govwrnment moves.

Lebi condemned the actions of the women who prevented government officials from carrying out their duties.

The agency had the mandate of making the market functional to enable it generate income into the government’s coffers, and therefore an improper for any individual or organization to build extra structures that are not line with survey plan and which serves as a disturbing obstruction to daily movements.

He said:

“We went there to ensure sanity, having had discussion with them before the day and a similar exercise has been carried out in some markets across the state.

“Illegal structures destroy aesthetics value and orderliness of the market and they are dangerous to lives because vehicles do go in and come out.”
