A businessman, Godwin Chukwuzubelu Godwin, has been arraigned before Justice I.O. Ijelu of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, for N60 million fraud.
The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the defendant on Thursday, June 15.
The defendant was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
He pleaded “not guilty” to the offence.
In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, Ebuka S. Okongwu, prayed the court for a trial date and the remand of the defendant in the correctional facility.
Justice Ijelu adjourned the matter till July 12, 2023, for commencement of trial and ordered the defendant to be remanded in the Ikoyi correctional facility.
