The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has called on the Federal Government to end “monetary rascality” to prevent further degeneration of the economy.
He stated this in a Thursday statement while responding to the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed’s reaction to his earlier viral comment on the state of the economy.
Earlier in the week, Obaseki said that the nation was in financial trouble.
He claimed that the Federal Government printed N60 billion to support federal allocation for March.
Also, he accused the Nigerian government of borrowing without a sustainable plan to repay the loans.

In a reaction on Wednesday, the finance minister said that the claims were false.
However, Obaseki said he would not join issues with the Federal Government but felt it was his duty to offer useful advice for the benefit of the country.
He added, “The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, @ZShamsuna should rally Nigerians to stem the obvious fiscal slide facing our country.
“Rather than play the Ostrich, we urge the government to take urgent steps to end the current monetary rascality, so as to prevent the prevailing economic challenge from degenerating further.
“We believe it is imperative to approach the Nigerian project with all sense of responsibility and commitment and not play to the gallery because ultimately, time shall be the judge of us all.”
