“My supporters said I must lead them to APC” – Gbenga Daniel

2 Min Read

The Director General of Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has said that his supporters want him to lead them to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement is coming barely a day after Daniel, a former Ogun State Governor, resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and quit partisan politics.

He had communicated his decision in a letter to the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus.

But all that may be about to change after a Sunday meeting between Daniel and his supporters at his residence located at  Asoludero, Sagamu GRA.

Daniel conveyed a stakeholders’ meeting of his loyalists under the aegis of OGD Political Family.

The supporters, who cut across all local governments in Ogun State, reportedly told the ex-governor not to leave them in “political wilderness”.

According to The Punch, the supporters want Daniel to lead them to join the APC after he mobilised them to support the ambition of governor-elect, Dapo Abiodun.

Giving a recap of his supporters’ demands after the meeting, the ex-governor said, “Basically, they said I could resign from PDP.

“They said I must lead them to APC and they also said I could not retire from politics. That is the summary of what I heard.”

Asked what would be his next line of action, Daniel said, “Now, we have to take a look at it.”

And on whether he was prepared to go to the APC, he stated: “What else can I say? My people have spoken.”
