The Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, says he would like his successor to perform better than him.
He stated this Friday in a chat with newsmen to mark this year’s Democracy Day, saying the era has passed when leaders pray for the failure of their successor.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives was sworn in as governor on May 29, 2015, and re-elected for a second term in 2019.
Masari said his successor should not only consolidate on his achievements but do more to better the lives of residents of the state.
However, he said he prayed to be able to leave Katsina, whose slogan is Home of Hospitality, better than he met it.
“We are working to improve the wellbeing of our society; then why should one pray for failure of those to succeed him?” he queried.
Masari appealed to Katsina residents to co-operate with his administration to be able to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
