My Husband Removed My Womb Without My Consent – Woman Narrates

2 Min Read

A Nigerian woman has accused her husband of plotting with doctors to remove her womb without her consent.

The Nigerian woman, Kafilat told an Ibadan customary Court on Thursday that her husband, Musliu connived with some doctors o remove her womb while stating the grounds on which she’s demanding the dissolution of their five-year marriage.

Kafilat further told the court that her womb was removed by the doctors while she was undergoing a cesarean section during the birth of their first child.

She told the court: “My lord, Musiliu has systematically rendered me barren, because I can no longer conceive due to the removal of my womb during a caesarean surgery when I was trying to deliver my first child.

“While in the hospital, he should have informed any of my relatives that for me to have a safe delivery, my womb must be removed.

“It is not until recently that Musiliu wanted to be having sexual intercourse with me that he directed me to go for family planning.

“Then, medical personnel told me that I no longer have womb. Worst still, Musiliu is a drunkard and insensitive in all aspect of life.”

Defending himself, Musiliu made no attempt to deny the allegation as he told the court: “My lord, it is true that her womb was removed but the doctor informed me that her womb had already been damaged and the only option was total removal for her safe delivery. The doctor also advised me not to let her know until over a year when she could bear the pain.”

Following the plea made by both parties, the president of the court, Mr Henric Agbaje moved that the marriage be dissolved.

The court president further ruled that the four year old son produced from the union be in custody of his mother, Kafilat while Musiliu was ordered to pay a monthly upkeep of N4,000 towards the welfare of their son.
