“My heart is bleeding today” – Man tells Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat after LASTMA encounter

2 Min Read

A Lagosian, Oluwadare Adelusi, has called on Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat to reform the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in order to improve the deplorable traffic situation in the state.

He stated this in a series of tweets on Friday morning while sharing a recent nasty experience with officials of the traffic management body.

Taking to Twitter, Adelusi wrote, “@jidesanwoolu@drobafemihamzatMy heart is bleeding today. Day before yesterday, the traffic between Ajah bridge to Abraham Adesanya estate swallowed 2 hours of my fuel.

“So yesterday, just as I approached the bridge, my wife took over the wheel and I walked almost 2km to the roundabout at Abraham Adesanya where I met about LASTMA officials standing idle to the left of the roadside doing absolutely nothing @followlastma.

“Immediately I started controlling the traffic the hold up started moving. At this point, the officials joined in

After about 30mins, the officials came to me to say they were leaving (this was about 8.30pm) and can I find them “something”.

“While the gridlock had eased, it was obviously going to become bad very quickly without their presence. I said I had nothing to offer. They promptly left me there and the traffic went to hell immediately they left. I wonder, what are we paying taxes for? What are their deliverables? Should we be looking at setting up an NGO to curb this traffic menace? Because this guys sure as hell don’t care about us.”
