Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and the world’s richest man has admitted to speculations which claimed none of his children will be entitled to his over £70billion fortune.
The father of three said he’ll instead give his fortune away to charity.
Bill Gates admitted to this during an appearance on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ with Holly Willoughby and Ben Shephard.
The Microsoft founder whose estimated net worth is pegged at $81.7 billion said: “Well, our kids receive a great education and some money but they will go out and have their own careers.”
Gates said entitling his children, two daughters and a son to his wealth will inadvertently distort anything they might have in mind to do.
He further revealed that his children are aware of his decision and are okay with it.
He said: “They are never going to be poorly off”.
Adding that handing over his fortune is “not a favour to kids to have them have huge sums of wealth. It distorts anything they might do, creating their own path.”
On his decision, Gates added: “This money is dedicated to helping the poorest. They know that, they are proud of that, they go on trips with us to see the work that’s being done.”
