The presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said he does not have an agenda to Islamise Nigeria.
Tinubu said this when he met the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.
The former Lagos governor said it was unfortunate that some people were accusing him of being part of a plot to Islamise the country.
He said his wife, Senator Remi Tinubu, is an assistant pastor who goes to church on Sunday.
Tinubu said he dares not contest the presidency against the interest of his wife and other Christians.
“The rumour that this is a plot to suppress the Christian community is untrue and is unfortunate. I don’t have that agenda.
“Sitting next to me is my wife, an assistant pastor… I cannot dare contest this presidency against her in my house because I will lose. They all go to church on Sundays and leave me alone,” Tinubu said.
The Herald earlier reported that during the meeting, the National President of CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh rolled out an 11-point action plan the Christian community expects Nigeria’s next President to focus on.
