Enyeama and Musa...who is the captain?

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named its nominated players for the 25-man list African Player of the Year category, and a 20-man list Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category.

Nigeria’s goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who is signed to French football club Lille, alongside, winger Ahmed Musa who currently plays for CSKA Moscow were the only Nigerian players nominated for the Player of the Year Category.

Ejike Uzoenyi who plays forward for Enugu Rangers and South African side Mamelodi Sundowns was the only Nigerian nominated for the Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category.

CAF revealed that the performances of the nominees from January to November 2014 were mainly considered as criteria for selection.

Musa and Enyeama were an active part of the squad that won the 2013 African Nations Cup in South Africa and subsequently, contributed immensely to the Eagles short-term success in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Uzoenyi who debuted for the team in 2012 was also a part of the players that won the 2013 AFCON.

He signed for Mamelodi Sundowns in February 2014, but currently on loan for Enugu Rangers.
He was also shortlisted in the final squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup after Uwa Echiejile was excluded by injury.

The winners of the two categories will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches and Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.
