There was a shooting at a mall in Munich, Germany yesterday which claimed the lives of an estimated 10 people, including the shooter.
It has now been revealed that the teen was of Iranian descent and also half German, which has raised concerns as his motives for the shooting were also said to be unclear.
Questions would be asked as the timing of the attack is suspect– it’s just a week from the one in Nice, France and the perpetrator of that was discovered to be a French-Tunisian who had surprising links to ISIS. Was this teen also religiously motivated or was he just disturbed?
Police chief Hubertus Andrae told reporters after the shooting “The perpetrator was an 18-year-old German-Iranian from Munich. The motive or explanation for this crime is completely unclear.”
The shooter opened fire on people in a busy shopping centre near the southern German city’s Olympic stadium went on to shoot himself. He was said to have dual citizenship and no criminal record.
Andrae also said that there were around 21 people injured in the attack and that there were young people among the dead.
“There were youths among the dead,” he said.
