MTN Foundation has entered into a partnership with Oracle for the second phase of a collaborative effort geared towards empowering 2,000 Nigerian youths with ICT skills.
The youths, who are MTN Foundation scholars, will be given Java Fundamental and Oracle Database trainings.
This second phase will focus on database design, SQL and Java programming, and will also use Oracle Academy curriculum and hosted on-line learning materials.
The training is to be conducted over a period of 18 weeks of two classes per week, and will be conducted exclusively online.
MTNF says the training is part of its initiative to equip the Nigerian youth with requisite IT skills in the areas of science and technology, which are major drivers of the economic advancement of any nation.
“With the rapid adoption of technology in Nigeria, it is imperative that students are equipped with the right skills and this program would help to boost ICT skills in the beneficiaries and avail them valuable opportunities after completing the database design and SQL and Java programming courses,” a statement from the foundation said.
