Mr Macaroni Criticizes Government’s Response to Protests

Nigerian comedian and activist Mr Macaroni has condemned the government’s response to the ongoing #endbadgovernance protests, accusing authorities of disrupting peaceful demonstrations.

In a post on X, Mr Macaroni responded to SP Benjamin Hundeyin’s statement that protesters in Lagos State were peaceful. He alleged that the police attacked peaceful protesters while ignoring state-sponsored thugs.

Mr Macaroni compared the current situation to the ENDSARS protests in 2020, noting that the government often attempts to rewrite history. “At the end of the day, the government will then attempt to rewrite history as if it didn’t happen before our very eyes,” he said.

He also criticized the presence of anti-protesters who threatened and confronted peaceful demonstrators. “If people want to protest and cry out to the government, let them. How can the government keep punishing people and then tell them they can’t complain?” he asked.

Mr Macaroni emphasized that the government should protect peaceful protesters instead of causing problems. “This is when the government is expected to show that they are willing to listen to the people’s problems,” he said.
