Whether too much should be read into this or not Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho thinks Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Paris Saint-Germain should play in the Premier League.
The 32-year-old has enjoyed an incredibly varied career to date in which he has won leagues titles in the Eredivisie, Serie A, La Liga and Ligue 1.
However, despite much speculation over the years Ibrahimovic has never made the switch to England and Mourinho thinks it would be a shame if this never happened.
The Chelsea head coach said, “It is a pity for Ibrahimovic if he finishes his career and hasn’t played in the best league the world but his career is so full of success that he’s one of the greatest players even if he didn’t play in the Premier League.”
The Sweden international played for a year under Mourinho’s guidance in 2008/09 when the pair were both at Inter Milan, before Ibrahimovic was sold to Barcelona.
The Blues boss has been a huge admirer of the forward since then and it’s not beyond the realms of belief that the 51-year-old will try and sign the Swede in the summer.
It’s known that Mourinho wants new recruitment in attack, with current striking trio of Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres failing to impress.
All three could be sold come the end of this current campaign and that would open up some space for someone of the calibre of Ibrahimovic to fill the void.
