There have been reports that claim Mother Theresa could be made a saint next year by Pope Francis after the Vatican found a man who recovered from brain tumours following prayers for her help.
She could be canonised on Sunday September 4, 2016, the eve of the 19th anniversary of her death in 1997.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003 after the first healing miracle was found not long after her death.
A second healing miracle is required to be found before she could be considered for sainthood.
Earlier this year, Father Elmiran Ferreira Santos, told church authorities a man in his parish recovered from brain tumours when his wife prayed for Mother Teresa’s intervention.
The man simply walked out of intensive care, doctors sent to investigate the miracle have concluded that there is no medical explanation to his healing.
Vatican spokesman the Reverend Federico Lombardi stressed that Pope Francis still needs to approve a miracle attributed to Mother Teresa’s intercession.
He said canonisation ‘would be lovely and called the possibility she would be made a saint next year a ‘reasonable hypothesis, desire’ by admirers.
