Larteley Mensah a Ghanaian mother of four has been arrested in Accra for reportedly beating her sick eight-year-old daughter, Tani Sanni to death.
The suspect who is a 38-year-old mother is currently preparing for trial. She beat her poor daughter to death because the girl did not use sand to cover up her vomit as the mother had told her to.
The victim had been battling a chronic skin disease.
She had been staying with her father after the divorce of her parents, however, but due to her deteriorating health due to her chronic skin condition, the father opted to bring her to the mother so that proper care could be taken of her.
The suspect with the help of two accomplices buried the body quietly at midnight at Lavender Hill.
Lavender Hill is an area in Jamestown situated in close proximity to where liquid waste is disposed into the sea and notorious for its stench.
Police have mounted a fierce search for Mensah’s accomplices.
Briefing the media, the Korle Bu District Police Commander, DSP Theophilus Esilfie, said Mensah’s accomplices, identified as Adorkor and Ebenezer Annor, Larteley’s boyfriend, are on the run.
Police say they will ensure that the law takes its proper course.
